over memorial day weekend, we went down to the swell with our whole family, roland, and brian's youngest brother, michael. roland and michael came down for a day; the rest of us stayed for two days.
our first night camping was fun. we pulled off the highway a little way and had a nice area to ourselves.
i didn't get pictures of w climbing up the first time--so he tried again. with a little less luck the second time around.
we didn't find any rock art, which was surprising. but as we were hiking in the afternoon on the second day, i was bringing up the rear. i stopped when i saw the big horn sheep skull below and said "hey, are you not interested in this?"
and, of course, everyone was interested in it. especially brian; he said he had always wanted to find a big horn sheep skull. this was by far the highlight of our expedition.
b and w took turns (and sometimes me) carrying the skull carefully. b enjoyed placing in strategic locations to take pictures of it.
we finally found some real water--late in the second day. there was no water on this outing, which meant we were grateful that we brought more water than we usually carry for hikes.
