This past Saturday we went out with our landlord who took us out to eat some really great seafood and then took us to a place for W and S to play for awhile. She was so kind, paying for our meal then then paying for W and S to play for an hour at Kiddy Playland.
It was about $2 per hour per kiddy. |
Our Kiddies looking in awe at the Playland splayed before them. |
S tried out the slide |
At first, W gravitated to the soccer ball with S close behind. |
One of the attendants played soccer with W, as the big boys of soccer hovered above W's heads. It gives a kiddie something to aspire to. |
S found a doll house, made for kiddies. |
W found a kiddy zipline |
W and his favorite pirate |
S still in the kiddy-sized doll house, sitting down to cook |
These two ladies pictured on the wall of the doll house were presumably the owners. But they weren't home today, so S had the dollhouse all to herself. |
W found the train to ride in. He was such a good engineer! |
S took the caboose. |
S and a friend |
What? A ball cage? |
W didn't require any coaxing |
The proud mother with our host |
S found a bulldozer |
N and our host as W jumped on the trampoline |
When W and S got tired they could watch Thomas the Train |
S instructing W on how to use the bulldozer |
N thinking about how fast kiddies grow up these days. That in just three years W would be ready to learn how to drive, moving from kiddy bulldozer to family car in three years. That's not how it worked in her day! |
N is still pensive |
Once Thomas the Train was over, the there was some time for Strawberry Shortcake. We thought of how our kids Auntie Em would like watching this too. |
S found a blue car to play in since W couldn't get enough of the bulldozer |
S looking around for some other toys |
Found one! |
Strawberry Shortcake and Thomas the train were over. Time to learn about animals. |
Funhouse mirror |
W found another toy also |
A big smile from W as admiring host and mother look on |
S pushed around this cart for awhile while... |
...momma worked it out on the soccer field. |
W wasn't the only kid on the block who liked the zipline |
We were a little concerned that this picture pointed toward S as a delinquent when she grows older, stealing street signs. |
English rendition of the source text (that is, a translation):
It is forbidden to eat and drink inside the playland The child must be accompanied by someone of at least 13 years of age Socks must be worn by the child as well as the person accompanying Sandals should be placed on the rack provided One child and one accompanier |
After Kiddy Playland, they wanted to try on some big kid glasses |
W in the nearby supermarket, remembering fondly that ten minutes ago he was at Kiddy Playland |
We found some fun-time ties, which were really aprons folded in a tie-shaped way. |
Looking at a few products in the malls grocery store. |
On our way out, we passed an arcade and we thought forward to the day when W and S would be ready for a place like that. |
As fast as kids grow up these days, we had a sense it wouldn't be long. |
We could tell that W was already old enough to start feeling the pull of places like this, but we walked on by, leaving it for another day a few years in the future. |
