the wedding was at the bride's family's home. this was a painting in the front room that we thought was interesting. the anatomy, at times, is accurate, and at other times, inaccurate.
in the garage was where the bride's lunch was set up. here, the spoons are configured in a leaf pattern.
they had a bright spotlight they shined on the people. thankfully, all of the women had a lot of makeup on--so it didn't wash them out.
s really enjoyed watching tv while we waited for the wedding to start. even when there was a lot going on around her (pictures being taken, people walking around, etc) and there was no volume on the tv, she dutifully watched the screen.
the head of each family (who seemed to be the oldest man) each took a turn talking into a microphone and speaking to the other family's head (and the other prominent male figures in that family). we think they were speaking in javanese, which means we couldn't understand anything. but it was interesting.
we then left the house, and went over to a nearby masjid. i'm not really sure why, but we waited outside for about an hour outside the masjid. both b and i fell asleep for awhile.
we didn't fall asleep, though, before b got a few pictures of the bride's hair. those are flowers covering her hair. and, actually she had a wig on--so the flowers are covering her wig, which is covering her hair.
the bride and groom sat in little chairs in the middle of the room. they had their fathers there with them, and then a couple other men. they signed some papers (i guess making the marriage official).
once we finished at the masjid, we went home. it was a long day, but very interesting.
