on saturday morning, i learned how to make terang bulan. here i am watching and taking notes on making this delicious dessert.
the brown chocolate dye didn't work too well. but the yellow durian and pink banana dyes looked good.
after dying eggs, we all went out to do some shopping/exploring. we went to the pasar buku to look around again. we also went to the pasar antik. b wanted to buy the kids metal eggs with little things in them. when you shake the egg, it rattles. that was his easter gift to them. then we headed off to the keraton to buy the cobek (morter and pestle) that b had seen several weeks ago and wanted to buy. we got dropped off at the keraton, only to discover that we were at the wrong place.
taking it all in stride, though, we walked around the keraton and got to see a new part of the city.
there was a lot going on in the green space by the keraton. kids playing soccer, lots of food stands, people hanging out, etc.
we wandered around for awhile, but finally found two becaks that could take us to the other keraton. (there seem to be two here.)
we found the place we had been looking for. b bought a cobek for $3 (although we realized later it wasn't the one he had seen a few weeks ago).
after dinner, we went out to the amusement park and had a fun and cheap time. we ended up spending about $10 and got to go on 6 rides each. our first "ride" was the boom boom cars (aka bumper cars). s didn't end up liking them a lot, but the rest of us did, especially w. we ended up doing this one twice.
this one is from the roller coaster. it didn't last too long, but it was fun. we did this one twice too.
when we got back home, our next door neighbor, ibu danik, brought over two pet rabbit. one for w and one for s. as you can see, they were very excited to receive them. they played with them for hours on saturday and sunday. and, interestingly, she gave them to the kids on easter eve. it seemed like a perfect easter gift even though she didn't know it was easter time.

Looks like a fun day! It was creative of you to use durian to make dye for your eggs.
