Return Trip to the Uintas

a few weeks after we got back from indonesia, the four of us went up into the uintas with our good friends emron, moses, and anya. we had a good time--although it was filled with some twists and turns.

anya caught her first fish all by herself. it was a beauty!

and speaking of beauty. look at that scenery.

 so sunny and warm.

w happy to be back fishing.

 a nice tiger trout.

b getting some great pictures of the sky and water.

 s walking along the shore.

b turned these upside down--pretty trippy, huh?

it was a long day. we left early in the morning and actually ended up hiking 10.5 miles.

b enjoying the lichen. we got to a large boulder field as we were headed to another lake, and this proved to be the boulder field that was insurmountable. it just wasn't doable with our group--so we turned around and headed back to the car where we had lunch. then we decided to go back to the first lake of the day since it was a pretty easy hike to it.

and we were glad we went back to that lake. we hadn't caught much in the morning, but we sure caught a lot in the late afternoon.

 b caught a total of 5. w caught i think 4. i caught 2, emron caught 1. and anya caught 1.

 such a beautifully orange fish.

w caught a large trout--18 inches large in fact. the biggest fish of his life. i love this picture. it shows how overwhelmed and happy he was with this fish. he was so excited...he couldn't stop talking about it. i was across the lake fishing and could hear him talking animatedly about it!

his fish dwarfed the rest of our fish.

w admiring all of the fish, but especially his biggest fish!

me pointing to my two fish.

it was a large booty, which we deserved given how much effort we put into catching them.

The scenery is so beautiful, the fish were big and plentiful and Will is so expressive! Oh, and you're wearing jackets! That probably felt good after being hot for the past six months. Glad you were able to make this trip. Momma

The pictures of the tree line reflection with the underwater rocks on top are really cool. And so are the fish, of course. And lichens. It looks like such a good time.
