The whole family's reunited in Solo. N and W and S got into town on Saturday, just a day after I moved into the house. Their trip went smoothly, and they were able to stay awake until the evening so they could just go to sleep and re-set their internal clocks. Everyone seems reset, so that's good. Here are some photos of our first couple days reunited.

The owner of the house stopped by and welcomed us with two durians, which Norma's been looking forward to trying. She liked it. The kids, not so much. |
You can see W's opinion in the reflection in the glass. Or if you want to be more direct about it, you can look at his face. |
We're close enough to the school that we've decided the most convenient thing will be for the kids to be delivered and picked up by becak. Here they are on their way to their first day of school. |
We walked out to the main road to find another becak for us to ride in, since it was their first day and we needed to be there to deliver them. |
Here we are following them to school. |
From what we saw, much of the language use goes against zoning restrictions. |

A big snail N and I saw on the way back home |

The school is close enough, but it's hardly a trek W and S need to be walking. |
Later in the day, we went out in the neighborhood. |
Especially W was keen on seeing the bird market. I think it was a good experience for the kids, since W said he wished he could buy all the animals and set them free. |
This one looked like some kind of shrike to N. |
We couldn't tell what was going on at the bird market. It seemed like about fifty love birds we placed in the center of the courtyard and then people on either side of the love birds took turns yelling numbers at the birds. I asked, but didn't understand the explanation. |
Later we went to the grocery store to stock up on a few things. Something looked familiar but not the same as we've known. Like these corn chips. |
Or this lion. |

What a fun way to ride to school for W and S!
Hey will you stock up on some Happytos for me?
On W and S's school ride: No kidding, it feels so far outside of the experience I would have expected.
On the Happytos--We'll see. I may be able to learn how to make them myself and will have you over for some upon our return.
