 we have all had our birthdays between spring and now--so this an an homage to our 3 birthdays. 

starting with me in may. this is a montage of me opening presents. i included some of the funny-face pictures.

 b gave me some decemberists records!

 this was an accident: i ordered this for us to do our prints--not for my birthday, which is why i'm laughing.

 i got a bocce ball set from roland and cathy.

also on my birthday b and i went to the high school track to see how fast we could run the mile and 1500, respectively. b ran just under 6 minutes for the mile, which was very impressive. i ran a about a 6:20 1500, which was over a minute slower than my fastest 1500 time ever (which i ran on my 18th birthday my senior year). we also went for a family bike ride, watched the office, ate good burgers for dinner, and played our famous birthday balderdash game with roland and cathy (my mom couldn't come). it was a good birthday!

we celebrated s's birthday in august. we spent friday night with b's parents (my mom wasn't able to come again). she got some good family gifts. 

 again, a covid birthday--so notice the distance.

 this is one of my favorite recent pictures of maddie. so cute.

we just celebrated b's birthday! here's some pictures of his birthday. 

 we ate rendang and roasted vegetables for dinner!

 b had a pawpaw cake with cream cheese frosting. (it was delicious.)

 b liked it so much he licked the frosting off the candle.

 he opened his presents. this one is a "hollywood" gift made by sierra.

 the sambal came along with a note written in indonesian, which was fun. 

 i got b a map from around 1897 of the eurkea/tintic mountains area of utah.

 i got a handmade tenung from sulawesi--in honor of the fact that we will return someday to our beloved indonesia and explore more parts we've never been to before.

 i also got b a book written in 1961 by a woman who grew up in eureka called "towns of tintic." it seems she has a real flair for writing, and b is up reading it right now. i bet i'll read it after him--it sounds real interesting and fun.

 in the evening, we went out to the patio and hung out with b's parents and played a game (birthday balderdash). it was a fun time. after that, we came inside and played a matching game i had made for b's birthday. then b and i watched a documentary about space. it was a great birthday!
