hari rabu (wednesday)

it's fun when a ruin is on top of a ridge.

we found a hole in a tree that clearly had a bird's nest in it--we couldn't see the nest or baby birds, but we hear them. we guessed it was a woodpecker's nest.

there were tons of wild roses on this hike.

i liked this staircase part of it.

 b caught another lizard.

 what a beautiful pattern.

a big pictograph.

a  kiva!

a cool green pictograph. we saw a handful of green pictographs on this trip, which was neat because (in our experience) green paint is very rare.

this was set up so you could go down into the kiva.

 t-shaped door.

 yellow paint.

i love this--it looks like a one-eye patched old man.

 look at those pictographs!

 what a window.

we learned this is a different style of cliff dwelling construction--no rocks. this style is older than the ones that use rocks.

 b ready for bed.
