on thursday morning, we started our hike and happened to notice a cute baby rabbit right next to the trailhead.

a very cool ruin site. we had to get a permit to go to this one. i love the white stripes running down the wall.

an exterior wall.

this is us inside that exterior wall. this site is set up so you can get inside here.

what an incredible fat white stripe. and then the dots--super cool looking.

with a pac man face.

this is the entrance into the interior part of the complex.

big patch of cactuses.

look at that adobe wall--it's in such good shape.

claret cups! b ordered me some for our anniversary that are now planted in the yard.

i love a circular wall.

what incredible decorative chinking (that's what you call the small rocks that fill in the holes between the bigger rocks).

b got up high to look out on to the fin we'd be walking out on to to get to a really neat ruin site.

the fin looks narrow, but it was pretty wide--probably about 25 feet. but it's very cool to get up on it and walk out to the site.

i love how the rock on the left looks like a face.

here's more of that chinking.

a cool rock embedded in the ruin wall that is brown and green.

a potsherd used as part of the chinking.

a magic lightbow!

this hike was a bit challenging at times, but it was really cool.

sierra spotted this collared lizard.

we love collared lizards!

a beautiful night. we had a great campsite. we stayed there all 6 nights. we'd come home in the evenings, eat our mountain house dinners, and either read from "the great brain" together, or sierra and brian would carve. it was great.
