my birthday is coming up soon. on friday, i hosted a birthday party at our place--i invited a lot of my new indonesian friends. sonia, a good friend of ours, took all of these pictures on her cell phone.

lots of birthday singing. they sang in english and then several verses of the indonesian birthday song. 
opening up the terang bulan. oh i love terang bulan! (the fruit on the right side of the table is duku--the duku was a big hit. it was almost all gone by the end of the party. the bananas were another story--there were a lot of those left over.)
i wasn't sure how to start the lighter. clearly, i'm not a smoker.

sonia, me, and sister budi. when budi arrived, she said she figured she could dress casually since i love casual dresses. and i do love casual dresses--i love dasters (note the one i'm wearing). i enjoyed budi's dress, which says HAWAII 77. it reminded me of my sweet brian.
