Harbour walk in Sydney

This is B, in Australia for a few days to talk about some of my research projects with colleagues at a university in Sydney. Today after I arrived, my friend and co-writer (and host) took me on a harbour tour complete with a ferry ride to some great walking trails.

Scenes from before we got on the ferry

Riding out into the harbour

the famous opera house

We disembarked

My host pointed out a rabbit hanging out with some pigeons

A better view

Walking

One of the houses along the walking trail; there must be a public easement since it seemed like we walked right through the driveway, even as the trail was clearly designated as a public trail.

Overlooking a beach

We ate lunch over to the side, sitting on a bench. If it were a field of grass full of cars, it wouldn't have been aesthetically pleasing. But the boats, that was a different story...

A few pics taken at Curlew Camp, a camp where the Australian expressionists (painters) stayed and worked on their paintings in the 1890s.

We walked by the zoo

And we walked out onto another beach

To some tidepools in the rocks

An island fort made to defend against the Russians and at one point a prison island

Musicians on the street
