it's official
i've finally found out for sure that i'll be going to london for a work conference. i know, i know, it's for work, right--but i'll take a trip to london however i can get it. i really enjoyed it when brian and i went there a few years ago. i foresee...good food (indian perhaps?) and the hustle and bustle of a wonderful city in the winter. i'll have to figure out a good london book (preferably one set in the winter) to read to get me mentally prepped. does anyone have any good suggestions?

I hope you enjoy London. Winter time could be a bit wet but nothing gets better then FREE.

this is a solo trip. it's too bad we can't both go or that i can't stretch it out...but i should still get to do/see some cool things.

eNJay, might I recommend a play by famed author Henry Francis Downing. Most all of his plays are set in or near London. They include exciting characters like suffragettes, Russian nihilists, conspiring amateur playwrights, and coniving mutes. They're sure to get you ready for London, and everyone there will be impressed with your knowledge of the figure who is, basically, their national playwright. B
How about Sherlock Holmes or any of the Brit mystery writers? Or, if you don't mind changing London for Barcelona--The Shadow of the Wind. Sorry not be more prescriptive, these are the books on my mind right now.
