we finally got to the point when it was time to sell our 96 geo prizm. it was a good car for us. b and i got it in january of 2003.
a few weeks ago, i took w and s to get free blue pancakes. it was part of the homecoming festivities.
we also went with my mom, whitney and matt's family, ross and cyleste's family, and stuart and cristina's daughter alex to a pumpkin patch. this one was new to us--so it was an adventure figuring out what to do, where to go, etc.
we took another ride over to the pumpkin patch. b is holding up the funny-shaped pumpkin that i chose.
on our way out of the pumpkin patch, b found another true lover of the smashing pumpkins. someone who loves sp so much that their license plate is "adore" (their first post-melancholy album. if you don't know it, listen to it. it's good.). and they also had several sp stickers.
a few days after the pumpkin patch, ross, cyleste, leah, corbin, paige, mom, william, and sierra (and i) went on a fall break family scavenger hunt. it was a fun day. i made up clues that took us into the canyon.
we made it to wasatch mountain state park and played around feeding the ducks, looked at the stuffed animals (and the extremely large gingerbread house) in the visitor's center, etc.
the weather was gorgeous. just a perfect fall day. our next clue took us further into the park to have a picnic lunch.
i wasn't exactly sure what we'd be getting ourselves into by going to the olympic park, but it was really fun. we watched several professional ski jumping athletes practice.
they were good! we saw them flip and turn. it was really cool to watch them, and to see them land in the pool.
then we went into the museum and the kids got to play around inside some winter sport equipment--bobsleds, skeletons, etc.
the icing on the cake was riding the ski lift up the side of the mountain to the highest spot at the park. while doing that we got to see some great scenery, people riding on inner tubes down the crazy high and steep slopes (see the green/blue surface on the right), and ski jumpers practicing their distance. it was a great way to end the trip.
but wait! that wasn't all! the final clue was that each of the big kids got a medal that honored each person as a worthy participant in the first annual family fall break scavenger hunt! wah! how fun. i loved how much leah, especially, enjoyed the day. she loved all of the activities and clues and thought the gold medal she received after being at the olympic park was the best. it was a fun family day.
