wise stewardship

at church yesterday we had a combined third-hour meeting for men/women and even the teenage boys and girls to learn about wise stewardship of the earth. yes, you heard me correctly: we had a presentation on how important it is to "tread lightly" on the earth. it was so great. and the presenter, a man who studies environmental-cultural issues at byu, was wonderful. he was able to explain how taking care of the environment is a spirtitual imperative and gave us a good list of issues we could all realistically work on. one of the suggestions--to walk to church--is something i think we'll try. probably not every sunday, but now that we have church at 11am, it's not so difficult to do it.

I would love to walk to church. Or anywhere for that matter. If there is a downside (only 1 right) to the south is we don't recycle, nothing is close by, and we love our gas guzzling vehicles. I would appreciate a little less impact.

That is so great. I wish I could have heard what he had to say. We won't be walking to church any time soon. It's 6 miles away and an uphill walk. Good luck with that.

I'm impressed! It most certainly is wise for us to exercise our stewardship and take care of the earth. Yeah for recycling, walking, carpooling and public transportation! Boo to excessive packaging and gas guzzling automobiles. I'm on the bandwagon!

What a cool 5th Sunday topic. Aaron and I are working hard to find a walkable neighborhood to move into. I LOVE being able to walk to do my grocery shopping.

yes! troy and i have talked about this before - but to have a 5th sunday dedicated to it? that is fantastic. i probably won't walk to church since it is out by the airport now...but i'll think of something else.

i saw the beginning of lost last night and thought of you! was it everything you hoped for? and we'll have to check out mr. fox - thanks for the recommendation!
