fall times

s found her e-z bake oven in the shed and baked several items in it.

we had a good pawpaw harvest. the shenandoahs are the best, but the wells were better this year than they were last year, which was nice.

i don't remember why b did this, but it's funny.

we saw whitney and her girls, and they were fun.

somehow they all started doing this (it could be that i helped in making this happen). it was cute.

i mean come on! so cute.

b has been playing the guitar more recently, which has been fun. he's learned some bob dylan songs, including visions of johanna and i want you. he's also written a couple songs, which are really goo.

s is taking a photography class and helped buy a nice camera. she was very excited to get it!

kyle and amy brought us over some delicious goat milk caramel, which b is seen here eating by the spoonful.

we went exploring around the area where my relation jesse knight established a mining town just outside eureka. we found four horned lizards! they were so neat.

 this one was so smol.

there were some nice fall colors. i like these pics of me and b.

s has been doing so much good cooking lately. she's tried many new recipes and just been creative in coming up with things to eat without a recipe.

 that's a good looking pawpaw.

 blue yogurt!

we went on a day trip to the swell.

this was the end of our pizza pig out week. we ended on a high note with fruit pizza. it was a very delicious week.

b is so sad it's the end of the week!

last week, s started playing with an old box. we thought it could be a halloween costume: a s'more. here b is in her s'more box.

first day of high school & my dad's 80th birthday

s started her first day of high school in august. she decided to do eschool, and online option done through byu but for high school credits that are fully transferrable to her public high school here.

she got some new clothes and a new backpack to help it feel more normal, and i had her pose in front of the house like she's done since she started kindergarten. it's hard to believe sometimes that she's in high school.

her work station. her set up looks very reminiscent of her mom's work station. and, in fact, this exact desk spot was where i worked from home when we first moved here 12 years ago.

my dad's 80th birthday was in august. of course, he passed away in 2006, but my mom came over, and we celebrated in covid style anyway.

here are some old flashback pictures. the common thread is they all have my dad in them, but you'll notice some good vintage 80s and 90s vibes.

 grand canyon.

 acting out the nativity.

us with my grandma and grandpa.

uh, not sure. maybe right before tamaran got married or shortly after she got married?

ross's baptism at the old chapel.

i think after kaye and chris were already married.

stuart's uvu graduation (although back then it was uvsc).

b and my dad playing jenga when we spent christmas with them in moreland, idaho.

 family portrait circa 1995.

 christmas tree outing.

me as a toddler at my aunt and uncle's home in firth, idaho. kyle isn't born yet so probably summer 1983.

my parents at the bandon lighthouse beach.

 tamaran's wedding reception.

 kaye's graduation from nbhs--june 1993.

my mom looked at the originals of the above photos and also shared with us memories of dad.

we also ate dinner together outside.

mom gave us the makings for dad's favorite dessert: german chocolate cake with brown sugar frosting. the cake is good, but the frosting is really good.
