a long, long time...
it has been a long time since i've posted anything. below is a quick catch-up on what's happened over the past 4+ months.
william turned 10.
william and sierra played on spring soccer teams and had a good time with that.
brian turned in the last of his book revisions for his up-coming dissertation-cum-book re african american writer diplomats.
i went to dc for a work conference and got to enjoy springtime there with work friends and some non-work friends.
the four of us went down to goblin valley and hobnobbed down there for a day.
we had a big indonesian feast with b's indonesian tutor. it was so good. oh satay!
b is working hard on learning indonesian. he has 2 lessons/week with his tutor. he's getting really good at speaking indoesian. saya swami maw makan gula mera (there's some of my skills--my husband wants to eat brown sugar).
the biggest news is that we finally found out we'll be able to adopt sierra. we are very excited about this. it's been a roller coaster over the past several months--so it's good to know. things fall into place a lot easier when you're building from a solid foundation. i've learned that you can't over estimate how important stability is for kids (and adults). we're looking forward to this summer. we'll adopt sierra in june, and then i'll have two months of paid leave. during that time, i'll be able to relax (not work) and hang out with w and s. we're already planning on going into the high uintas and to yellowstone. of course we'll also go to escalante too. who knows what else we'll fit in to our summer.

So good to see you post again! Of course, I was so happy to hear that you are going to be able to adopt Sierra. I am very impressed by your Indonesian skills, too. You guys will pick it up quickly.
Wonderful news about Sierra..can't wait to see pics of her. You should just drive to Oregon with your time off:):) You can stay with me!
I'm so glad you posted. That is wonderful news about adopting Sierra and it sounds like Brian's book is going wonderfully. Congratulations.
I wish we had somewhere to go hiking. We're not exactly user friendly down here.
How many African-American writer diplomats are there?
